Our friends in Kaliro, Uganda, struggle to make ends meet. Many people are subsistence farmers and live in poverty, typically sleeping on the ground eating a very restricted diet. Disease and parasites afflict almost everyone, and when the crops fail, their situations become even worse. We get hundreds of letters every year from children complaining of hunger and sickness. Animals provide sources of milk, eggs, meat, and valuable manure for their gardens. The Kaliro region is too rural to get help from other assistance programs.
In partnership with local goat experts here in America and with Children for Christ Outreach in Uganda, we have established a goat pen at Children for Christ Primary School. We were able to purchase 6 goats; since then, they've had babies!
In 2020, we will begin distributing goats to the community to help them move towards sustainability.
